3V LEARNING RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT TEAM

3V Learning was born out of a perceived need. L. Craig Turner, founder and President of 3V as well as CEO of Correctional Services Incorporated, for years searched for an effective solution to the need for relevant and time sensitive training for his staffs and associates. Also an education advocate, his search turned to the distance learning community and the opportunities it afforded for instant access to relevant training online. With this discovery, Craig saw too an opportunity to greatly improve and enhance the distance learning experience for users. Today, not only are his employees at CSI reaping the benefits of this style of training, 3V Learning has discovered its broad niche in the education community and is proudly bringing this powerful new training style to a diverse and growing audience.

The following individuals and/or groups have been retained to serve as 3V Learning’s Development and Review Team. Each course we offer as part of our curriculum has been subjected to a meticulous process of research and review by individuals with long histories and qualifications in fields related to the subject matter. We have great confidence in offering courses backed by the collective credentials of these groups or individuals, in the quality of information and training made available through them. Food for Fines

Do you have overdue library books?  Are those fines mounting and your finances dwindling?  Starting Monday, November 8th thru December, 22nd, you can pay them off with food!

That's right, it's time once again for Food for Fines at St. Johns County Public Libraries System (SJCPLS). From November 8th until December 22nd, bring in your non-perishable, non-expired food items and wipe out $1.00 in fines for each item! Get rid of your fines while  benefiting those in need in our community!

As the holidays approach many people are having lean times, some are without jobs and/or losing their homes.  Food banks need to be replenished and our community needs to come together to help each other.
SJCPLS is also collecting Boxtops to benefit our local school.  You may have seen these on cereal boxes, paper towels, soups and other products, but did you know that each Boxtop earns 10 cents for schools! All branches of the St. Johns County Public Library System will now be collecting Boxtops for Education for schools in their communities. Please help support the education for the kids of St. Johns County by saving Boxtops from these products and simply dropping them off at your SJCPLS branch library.

Community service and family go together.  Get your kids and especially your teens involved in giving back this holiday season.  There are many ways they can help others including volunteering and donating to organizations that assist the homeless or others that are in need.

Giving is what the holidays are about.  Be the example for your children, get involved today.

Scholastic Reading for All Ages

I am thrilled to have a neighbor that works for Scholastic.  She is constantly giving me books to read, of course these are for middle school students, however they stories are wonderful!

As an avid reader, I never considered middle school or high school novels. I am probably the one and only that didn't read The Twilight Series, although I did read at least two of the Harry Potter books years ago when my son read them.  He is now a young adult.

Scholastic has excellent, educational and gripping novels.  The next time you see their book fair at your school, you may want to pick up a book or two that you and your child can read.

What a fantastic new website I found - all about education, schools, articles, tips, resources and more!

About SchooGo:

SchooGo is an online resource that provides information regarding pre-k, elementary, middle and high school across the US and allows parents to evaluate public schools based on academic performance, student and teacher statistics, and parent and teacher reviews.
We maintain a comprehensive nationwide database of more than 125,000 public, private and charter k-12 schools and 100,000 preschools across the 50 U.S. states. The data on the site about the schools is very useful to the parents who need to evaluate several potential schools for their children.

Information is key, and putting that information in front of parents gives families the necessary tools to make the best school decisions for their children. SchooGo allows parents to do the following:

What's the problem we're trying to solve?

During the summer months, young people living in poverty often don’t have access to essential resources that support their academic and developmental progress. As a result, they experience well-documented setbacks in academic performance which contribute to growth in the achievement gap. They also face nutritional setbacks which contribute to the problem of childhood obesity.

Our vision and mission.

The vision of the National Center for Summer Learning is for every young person to experience enriching, memorable summers. To realize that vision, our mission is to ensure that children and youth in high-poverty communities have access to quality summer learning programs.

What we do.

Based at the Johns Hopkins University School of Education, the Center engages in research, develops policy, and delivers professional development designed to achieve the following results:

Increase the number of providers offering high-quality summer learning programs to young people living in poverty;
Increase the number of organizations and policymakers that identify summer learning as a public policy priority; and
Increase funding for high-quality summer learning programs for young people who currently lack choices and opportunities

Through its nation-wide network of providers and partners, the Center is focusing national attention on how high-quality summer learning programs help close the achievement gap, lead to higher graduation rates, and promote healthy development.
