i-Walk: National Child Abuse Prevention Month

Please GET BLUE and join in i-Walk to keep America’s children safe! Every April, the nation unites to raise awareness and educate the public about child abuse and violence against children.

To signify the importance of the month please celebrate your children on National Love Our Children Day on April 14th.

You can unite online by participating in the virtual i-Walk and gain the support of your friends, family and your community to help keep kids safe – and you don’t even have to leave your home!
Each year, over 3 million children in our country were reported abused or neglected and through public awareness, community education, and support programs, these astounding numbers will be reduced.

Love Our Children USA™ offers you an opportunity to join this national movement in your very own community. You can be the voices for children by participating in GET BLUE campaign and i-walking to remind everyone about the importance of America’s kids, and how we can share in preventing all violence and neglect against children.

Kids Privacy

About Kids Privacy:

Most kids have never met their digital me. They join networks and adopt gadgets with ease not realizing that all their interactions are generating data. Online, shared photos, videos and comments may also be seen by colleges, employers, parents, teachers, coaches and advertisers. Their digital me contains all this information, the good and the bad, and it exists forever.

Although kids adopt new technology with ease, they still need us to point them in the right direction. Kids need to understand how to share the right information with the right people. As a mother of 3, I realize how hard it is to keep up with all the ways our kids interact online and all the different settings and controls available. That is where, I hope, Kids Privacy can step in. This is a blog by a parent for parents.  Here, parents can find information and resources about how to teach kids to share smart and build a positive Digital Me.

Devoted to Me: A Better Me - A Better You - A Better World

"I'm starting with the man in the mirror. I'm asking him to change his ways. And no message could have been any clearer. If you wanna make the world a better place take a look at yourself and then make that change." - Michael Jackson

Devoted to Me

The concept is simple yet has the power to transform the world in which we live in. The mission at Devoted to Me is to inspire people of all ages, especially our young, all over the world to look within for who they are.

The concept is simple yet has the power to transform the world in which we live in. The mission at Devoted to Me is to inspire people of all ages, especially our young, all over the world to look within for who they are.

Devoted to Me is a journey within to discover for our own self how to know, feel and embrace the person we are at this moment.  It is to encourage us to understand that anything we will ever be, we already are.

The hope is that we realize that the strong, capable, beautiful, confident person we are longing to be has been within us all along.  And once the shift has taken place we will rid our world of the many issues that are plaguing our teens and even younger children.  Gone would be the bullies and their victims, replaced with acceptance for each other.

Abuse of any kind would not survive because of the strength revealed. Obesity would diminish because souls would be fed. Self-mutilation would dissipate into self-love. On the other side would be respectful, responsible individuals with an understanding that we are all accountable for what we bring and the choices we make in the world we live in.

The dream is an ambitious one.  The road for some may be long and winding and for others a bit easier but the power to effect change lives within all of us no matter the age or obstacles that are before us.
Devoted to Me begins with me and continues to you.  Accept it.  Pass it on.

One Laptop per Child - #OLPC

5000 Laptops to 5000 children.

OLPC mission is to empower the world’s poorest children through education.

We aim to provide each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop. To this end, we have designed hardware, content and software for collaborative, joyful, and self-empowered learning. With access to this type of tool, children are engaged in their own education, and learn, share, and create together. They become connected to each other, to the world and to a brighter future. – OLPC

Parenting Expert and author of over 25 parenting books, Dr. Michele Borba is one of their United States Ambassadors. On her recent trip to Miami she visited schools in Liberty City where she witnessed these laptops interact with students that were in other countries.

Dr. Borba says;
“It was simply amazing! Each click of the mouse was helping them become more connected both to the world and to a brighter future.”

On February 28th, Michele Borba and a team from #OLPC delivered 5000 laptops to children in Nicaragua. (Watch video).
